I see the pond!

Welcome to camp, folks! How was your drive? Before long, the snow and ice will have melted, the dirt camp road dries up and I will be able to do some spring cleaning. Camps that have been barren all winter sure define the meaning of "spring cleaning"!

But never fear, after some vacuuming and bleach, and perhaps a fresh coat of paint, you will have the comforts of lake living. All you will have to do is drive up, make up your bed, and relax! I will have the outhouse swept up and put in the plumbing for cooking and washing and hot showers!

We have running water. So why don't you come in for some iced tea and a snack. Then I'll show you around!

"I see the pond" was our favorite mantra growing up as the stationwagon full of kids and animals approached it's final destination on a 6-hour trip. It was our reward for surviving a successful school year and a long journey! o my parents, I am sure it reflected relief for being able to get out and find some peace and quiet! For me, it meant wondering what neighbors were at the lake and trying to remember where I packed my bathing suit!

About the Site

UnityPond.net is an ever evolving site where you might find personal stories, local nature photography, and links to any number of local resources for projects, tourism, and hobbies.

I started UnityPond.net as a place to be able to "visit" this small lake community when I am away. It's a quick place for me to go to get links to small business web sites for Unity, Troy, and Burnham, as well as in the surrounding Waldo County area, Waterville, Augusta, and sometimes even southern Maine towns.

My initial intent was to create this site in order to inspire and post creative writing, be it childhood memories, poems, nature haikus, or what have you. But building the site, learning about XHML and CSS coding standards, plus showcasing my nature photography, has been half the fun!
