hi folks. jessie cat got in a fight tonight with the neighbor cat. that brown tiger is having turf battles every day with our sweet kitty and pete has had about enough, as I and poor jessie! she had a bloody nose the other night and is again sporting 2 fine scabs on her nose. its a tough neighborhood! nothing like the lakeside.
inMaine there were cats around, but Jessie was in heaven! there were trees and water and woods and grass and moss. The number of chipmunks, red squirrels, chickadees, and gold finches well out numbered the space per square foot that the cats get around here. >^,,^< meow! poor kitty! -- love, kate in Connecticut.

The winter birds came in today. Jessie was intent on watching the feeders. I converted the birdbath to a sunflower seed feeder and the blue jays and a few smaller birds took me up on the offer. It's warm today, but we had a bit of much needed rain this morning, and I beleive that may have attracted the birds. Or perhaps I just loosetened up on my feeding habits.
Juncos showed up for the first time in about 6 months. The cardinals, male and female gave a visit, though it seemed to be one pair nor 2-3. Mourning doves of course were here with woodpeckers, a grey squirrel, and many house sparrows. Oh! and a goldfinch. Even when they are olive not bright yellow like the one I saw at the pond this summer, they are quite recognizable with their clear wing band of white.
What's happening in Maine?
